Senegal: An agenda for human rights: An opportunity not to be missed by the authorities elected in the March 2012

Following the Presidential election of February-March 2012, Senegal has the opportunity to reinforce respect, protection and promotion of human rights. The unrest which tainted the pre-election period also resulted in serious human rights violations. The authorities must now live up to their commitments. The population has great expectations regarding justice. They must, without delay, put an end to the culture of impunity that serves as both weapon and shield for security forces.
