Nigerian police and security forces: Failure to protect and respect human rights

In 2002 Amnesty International called on the Federal Government to ensure that law enforcement officers do not carry out extra-judicial executions, nor resort to torture of detainees under any circumstance. Little seems to have changed since then. In this briefing to the National Assembly on the failure to protect Nigerians from human rights violations by the Nigerian police and security forces, the organization is calling on the National Assembly to carry out its Constitutional responsibilities to ensure the human rights of all Nigerians are respected.
