The above, a businessman arrested by the security forces on 11 September 1996, who suffers from hypertension and diabetes, was moved from his place of detention to a hospital in Brazzaville on 12 December 1996 at the request of his doctor. His health had reportedly significantly deteriorated and he was believed to be suffering from heart pains. In January 1997 he was flown to South Africa for further medical treatment. It is not clear whether he will be returned to detention or brought to trial in Congo.
