Mexico: Spiralling human rights violations and impunity: Amnesty International Submission to the UN Universal Periodic Review, 17th session of the UPR Working Group

In this submission Amnesty International evaluates the implementation of recommendations that Mexico accepted during its previous UPR, including those relating to migrants, human rights defenders, journalists, Indigenous Peoples, and violence against women. The organization also raises concerns about the National Human Rights Programme and National Human Rights Commission. With regard to the human rights situation on the ground, Amnesty International raises concerns around public security, enforced disappearances, arbitrary detention, torture and ill-treatment, weaknesses in the justice system as well as military jurisdiction in cases involving human rights violations.
