People’s Republic of China: Submission to the UN Universal Periodic Review: Fourth session of the UPR Working Group of the Human Rights Council, February 2009

In this submission, Amnesty International provides information as stipulated in the General Guidelines for the Preparation of Information under the Universal Periodic Review: Amnesty International raises concerns over the use of the death penalty; extra-judicial forms of detention, including re-education through labour; torture and other ill-treatment; and, violations of the right to freedom of expression. The organization also makes a number of recommendations for action by the government.
