USA: A tool of injustice: Salim Hamdan again before a military commission

On 5 December 2007, Salim Ahmed Hamdan, a Yemeni national, is facing a pre-trial military commission hearing at the US Naval Base in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, more than three years after the first commission system he appeared before was abandoned, and more than six years after he was taken into US custody. At this hearing, the commission is expected to hear arguments on the prisoner of war and the “unlawful enemy combatant” issues. Amnesty International will have an observer at the proceedings.
