Central America: Persecution and resistance: The experience of human rights defenders in Guatemala and Honduras

This report focuses primarily on the risks faced by human rights defenders in Honduras and Guatemala. The pattern of human rights abuses against human rights activists in these countries is widespread, showing no signs of improvement and therefore in need of serious attention by national and international governments. It includes case studies of human rights violations, including killings and attacks, threats and intimidation, against human rights defenders. In many cases those implicated are members of the security forces and, in others, private actors that may be linked to financial interests.
