Fadella Mohamed Hashim, Yahya Ali Abdalla, Abdel Latif Gimiabi, Bushra Mahdi Bushra, Ismail Adam Ali, Al-Fadl Hamad Diab, Mohamed al-Sil, Baba Shaafi: Amnesty International has received reports that a further eight members of the banned opposition Umma Party have been detained without charge or trial in Khartoum since the beginning of January 1997. There is concern that they are at risk of torture and ill-treatment and that they may be prisoners of conscience.
