Senegal: Seven sick prisoners

Lansana Sane, nurse; Ibrahima Diedhiou, Alpha Badji, farmer, Idrissa Sane, farmer (held in the prison centrale de Rebeuss in Dakar); Abdoulaye Kine Senghor, Abdoulaye Coly, Simon Diatta (held in the prison centrale in Ziguinchor): There is concern for the health of the above seven prisoners who are among 128 detainees from the Casamance region being held on charges related to the armed opposition there. They have all been detained for more than two years in poor prison conditions, and are suffering from a variety of health problems. They have not received adequate medical care. Most Casamance prisoners were reportedly tortured and some may be prisoners of conscience.
