URGENT ACTION

THREE BEHEADED

Two Sri Lankans and an Indian man have been put to death in Saudi Arabia.

Sri Lankan nationals K M S Bandaranaike and Halima Nissa Cader, along with Cader's Indian husband Muhammad Naushad Barmil, were executed on 4 November in the city of Jeddah.

They had been sentenced to death by a court in Jeddah on 11 June 2007, for taking part in an armed burglary, during which a woman was killed at her home in Jeddah. The crime had taken place in November 2005. The three had no legal assistance at any time during their interrogation and trial, and are believed to have confessed under duress. In 2009 the Court of Cassation upheld their death sentences.

No further action is required from the UA network. Many thanks to all who sent appeals.
