Spain: Briefing to the Human Rights Committee

This briefing summarizes some of Amnesty International’s main concerns on Spain. The organization highlights in particular its concerns about the failure of the state to comply fully with its obligations to prevent and prohibit torture and other ill-treatment by law enforcement officials and to ensure that allegations of such treatment are thoroughly investigated, that those responsible are brought to justice and that victims of such treatment receive adequate redress. The briefing also highlights concerns relating to persistent violence against women and violations of the rights of migrants and asylum-seekers.
