Guatemala: Submission to the UN Universal Periodic Review: Second session of the UPR Working Group, 5-9 May 2008

In this submission, Amnesty International provides information under sections B, C and D. This includes concerns over shortcomings in Guatemalan legislation relating to impunity, violence against women, the International Criminal Court, human rights in the context of disputes over land, and the role of international human rights principles in Guatemalan jurisprudence. The document also describes concerns relating to human rights violations in the context of public security, and the safety and security of human rights defenders. Amnesty International makes a number of recommendations in the areas of concerns listed.
