Zimbabwe must respect and protect fundamental freedoms during the 2013 harmonized elections: “Walk the Talk”

On 31 July 2013, Zimbabwe will hold harmonised elections composed of local government, House of Assembly, Senate and presidential elections. Amnesty International is urging the government of Zimbabwe to ensure that all human rights enshrined in the new constitution are respected and protected by the police, army and intelligence services. Amnesty International is also urging the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the African Union (AU) to take robust measures to stop human rights violations and ensure that the next elections are held in an environment where all human rights are fully protected.
