France: Chased away: Forced evictions of Roma in Ile-de-France

France is no exception to the pattern across Europe of governments forcibly evicting Roma from their homes. Roma present easy targets as they are often poor, socially excluded, and regarded with hostility and prejudice by the societies around them. In this report Amnesty International calls on the French authorities to revise their domestic laws on evictions and bring them into line with international human rights standards, and to stop the forced evictions of Roma until there are adequate alternatives available, and genuine consultation with all those affected.
