Mozambique: Submission to the UN Universal Periodic Review: Tenth session of the UPR Working Group of the Human Rights Council January 2011

, Índice: AFR 41/002/2010

In this submission, Amnesty International raises concern over Mozambique’s failure to ratify certain international treaties and to enact legislation to reflect in national law some of the provisions of the international treaties to which it is a party. The organization also expresses concerns regarding human rights violations by the police, particularly extrajudicial executions, excessive use of force, torture and other ill-treatment sometimes resulting in deaths-in-custody, as well as arbitrary arrests and detentions. It further raises concerns regarding obstacles to accessing justice in the country.
