يوم المرأة: مناسبةٌ لاتخاذ موقف مساند للمرأة في الشرق الأوسط

منذ مارس/ آذار 2011، دأبت حكومة الرئيس السوري بشار الأسد على إدارة حملة وحشية قمعت خلالها المعارضة تاركةً وراءها أكثر من سبعة آلاف قتيل، بينهم ما يربو على 200 امرأة وفتاة. واعتُقل آلاف الأشخاص، واحتُجز العديد منهم بمعزل عن العالم الخارجي لفترات طويلة في مواقع غير معلومة يُزعم انتشار ممارسات التعذيب وغيره من ضروب سوء المعاملة فيها. واضُطرت الكثيرات من المدافعات عن حقوق الإنسان إلى التواري عن الأنظار، بل وحتى الفرار من بلدانهن– وهن اللواتي كن في طليعة الأصوات السلمية المنادية بالإصلاح. وفي خضم ذلك كله، لم تقم عقيلة الرئيس السوري، السيدة أسماء الأسد، بشيء يُذكر كي تقف في وجه القمع الوحشي الذي تمارسه القوات التابعة للحكومة السورية، بل إنها ظهرت تقف إلى جانب زوجها في المناسبات العامة كنوع من المساندة له. وتنناقض تلك الصورة سابقتها التي عُرفت سيدة سوريا الأولى من خلالها بقربها من العمل الخيري ومناصرة القضايا الاجتماعية، وخصوصاً حقوق المرأة. ولقد ناشدت منظمة العفو الدولية الأشخاص من كافة أرجاء المعمورة كي يشاركوا في حملة كتابة رسائل تحث السيدة أسماء الأسد على ممارسة نفوذها ووضع حد للعنف الدائر وانتهاكات حقوق الإنسان التي تُرتكب بحق الناشطات في سوريا اللواتي يعملن من أجل حماية مستقبل السوريين كافة.
