Amnesty International has condemned the excessive use of force by Iranian security forces that saw scores of peaceful protesters beaten and detained on Wednesday.

Dr Mohammad Maleki has been held incommunicado since his arrest in August. Amnesty International has expressed grave concern for his health as he is suffering from serious illnesses.
Up to 68 people are said to have been arrested during a prayer service in support of activists detained following protests after June’s presidential election.
Iranian-American academic Kian Tajbakhsh has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by
the Revolutionary Court in Tehran, for his alleged part in the protests following the June presidential election.
