Syria: Unfair trial and sentencing of Muhammad Haydar Zammar: Appeal Case Update 3

Almost five years after his arrest in Morocco, Muhammad Haydar Zammar was convicted, after an unfair trial, on four charges. He was given a 12-year sentence in accordance with the usual penalty for membership of the outlawed Syrian Muslim Brotherhood (MB) organization. Muhammad Zammar stated that he had never been a member of the MB and no evidence of such membership was presented during the trial. Amnesty International is also concerned that Muhammad Zammar’s rights were violated by the German and US authorities.
