AI is deeply concerned at the continued detention without charge or trial of 90 doctors, dentists and veterinarians who were arrested in 1980 following widespread agitation in Syria for political reforms, including an end to the State of Emergency in force since 1963. Despite repeated requests for information on those detained, the government has failed to provide information on their whereabouts and well-being.
