This report focuses on abuses by armed groups in Iraq, covering the period from April 2003 to May 2005 when at least 6,000 civilians were killed and at least 16,000 wounded in direct or indiscriminate attacks. In this report Amnesty International is urging armed groups to immediately cease all attacks against civilians and non-combatants; it is also calling on religious and community leaders to publicly condemn and use their influence to end all such attacks; and it is calling on other governments to prevent their territory being used by anyone to provide military or other assistance to armed groups.
