Former Minister of the Interior, Hojjatoleslam Abdollah Nouri, aged 53, is in his third year of imprisonment in Evin Prison in Tehran. He is serving a five year prison sentence following his conviction after an unfair trial in November 1999. Amnesty International regards Abdollah Nouri as a prisoner of conscience and is urging the Iranian authorities to release him immediately and unconditionally, and to ensure that he receives all necessary medical care in a prompt and effective manner.
