In the days leading up to the resignation of Hosni Mubarak Egyptian security forces used excessive force causing injury, disfigurement and even death to some protesters. Since 25 January 2011, at least 384 protestors have been killed and over a thousand people detained.. The Egyptian security forces must take action to stop the use of torture and ill-treatment against detainees. Authorities must investigate allegations of torture in detention and the use of excessive force by security forces.
