This Amnesty International briefing to the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights focuses on concerns regarding Slovakia’s compliance with the provisions for equal access of Romani children to education. Amnesty International is concerned that Slovak authorities have claimed that the problem of segregation of Romani children in education has been successfully resolved by the adoption of legislation that bans discrimination and segregation. In reality, discrimination and segregation are still widespread.
