Forced evictions are unlawful under international human rights law. Instead of acting in accordance with its international obligations, the Serbian government has failed to stop continuing violations of the right to adequate housing by the City of Belgrade authorities. The only way to stop the forced evictions is to prohibit them under Serbian law. This briefing gives details of three forced evictions of Roma communities which have taken place in Belgrade between June and November 2011, and of other communities awaiting eviction.
