Georgia: Briefing to the United Nations Human Rights Committee

This briefing summarizes some of Amnesty International’s concerns in Georgia, in view of the Human Rights Committee’s upcoming examination of Georgia’s third periodic report on its implementation of the obligations as a State Party to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR). This briefing focuses in particular on Amnesty International’s concerns about the failure of the government to ensure the fulfilment of the rights to life, freedom from torture and other ill-treatment, security of the person, fair trial and to redress for violations of such rights.
