Amnesty International is concerned that the Russian Federation authorities are not addressing the ongoing human rights crisis in the North Caucasus effectively. Amnesty International has identified a disturbing pattern which suggests that human rights defenders, lawyers and journalists are being targeted and subjected to human rights violations, because of the work that they do. This report gives examples of the obstacles faced by those who aim to protect human rights in the North Caucasus, and highlights illustrative cases of human rights violations against those who stand up to defend them.
