United Kingdom: Army Barracks Deaths: Families Demand Justice

Since 1990, at least 1,748 members of the United Kingdom Armed Forces have lost their lives through "non-natural" causes in or around barracks. However, of the total figure given above, almost 200 deaths were the result of discharge of firearms. Two hundred deaths have been described as self-inflicted. In this context, Amnesty International is concerned that the circumstances surrounding many of these fatalities continue to be disputed.
