This report updates the paper "Romania: Broken commitments to human rights" (EUR 39/01/95) issued on 22 May 1995. It describes the response of the Romanian authorities to the allegations contained in the May report and gives further information on cases raised in it and on new cases. These are: Imprisoned solely for homosexuality: Adrian Dabija and Ludovic Miklos; update on the case of Valentin-Walter Stoica; cases of ill-treatment and death in detention: Ilie Cojoc; Ilie and Silviu Tuican; Emilian Niculae; Viorel Constantin; Alfred Pana and Gabriel Mitu; updates to the cases of Nicolae Miroiu and Stan Oncel.
