Amnesty International has received a further report from Romania of ill-treatment of a 12-year-old child. The organization is concerned that this incident, should the allegations prove to be true, would represent a violation of Romania's international treaty obligations which state that no child shall be subjected to torture or other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. Amnesty International is also concerned about the government's failure to carry out impartial investigations into complaints of ill-treatment of children and to bring to justice those responsible.
