Italy: Ongoing concerns: Discrimination against Roma and violations of the rights of migrants, asylum-seekers and refugees: Amnesty International submission to the UN Universal Periodic Review, October-November 2014

In this submission, Amnesty International evaluates the implementation of previous recommendations and urges the government of Italy to act on key institutional and human rights concerns. The organization is particularly concerned at the continuing discrimination of Roma in access to adequate housing, including the ongoing use of forced evictions and segregation in isolated camps. The rights of migrants, asylum-seekers and refugees have been flagrantly violated by the authorities. Last but not least, prison conditions remain sub-standard in many places.
