This report documents 10 incidents of police shootings selected from the many reports that AI has received over the period from May 1996 to September 1997. the organizationis urging the Bulgarian Authorities to encure that impartial and thorough investigations are conducted immediately into all shootings by law enforcement officials, to provide all law enforcement officials with clear regulations, and to initiate effective training programs on the use of firearms.
