This report recommends measures to increase women's protection from violence, assist their confidence in and cooperation with the justice system and boost their equality. The document provides background information about five years of armed conflict, ended 2003, and the regional police intervention force (RAMSI) which is helping restore law and order. Currently, women and girls remain at risk of violence, especially domestic violence.
