Amnesty International's concerns about a wide range of gross human rights violations in Sri Lanka are summarized in this paper. In particular, the persistence of widespread extrajudicial killings and "disappearances" by the security forces in the context of opposition violence is highlighted. Other concerns include arbitrary detention without charge or trial and torture or ill-treatment of detainees.
