Amnesty International continues to be concerned about the use of whipping, both judicial and extrajudicial, in Pakistan. The organization is also concerned about the role of medical professionals in the administration of such punishment. Recent reports carried by international news agencies describe the punishment of two men on 25 August 1991: both received 30 strokes each for the rape of a six-year old girl. Other known cases of whipping over the past year are listed in the table attached to this document.
