Since Pakistan became a key ally in the US-led “war on terror” in late 2001, hundreds of people accused of links to terrorist activity have been arbitrarily detained and held in secret facilities. They are victims of enforced disappearance: denied all access to the outside world, including lawyers, families and courts, and held outside the protection of the law. Amnesty International is urging the Pakistan government to abide by its pledges to resolve the cases of those subjected to enforced disappearance.
