The death penalty continues to be imposed and carried out in Pakistan and to enjoy widespread support among government officials, lawyers, political parties and the public. Two legal changes recently announced in Pakistan, give Amnesty International reason to hope that the application of the death penalty may be restricted in the near future. The present document explains substantive and procedural provisions relating to the death penalty in Pakistan and shows their practical application.
