Born Samnang and Sok Sam Oeun were sentenced to 20 years' imprisonment after an unfair trial in August 2005. The Court convicted the two men of murdering trade unionist Chea Vichea, despite presenting no direct evidence except a confession by one of them, obtained under duress. Amnesty International believes that the true perpetrators have not been held to account. The organization repeats its calls on the Cambodian authorities to urgently initiate an impartial, independent and effective investigation into the killing so that those responsible are brought to justice.
