In this open letter, Amnesty International congratulates the Prime Minister on his recent election and uses the opportunity to raise concerns regarding human rights in Japan. In particular the organization expresses its concerns about international development assistance and human rights; the death penalty and the daiyo kangoku system; justice for survivors of Japan's military sexual slavery system; refugees and asylums seekers, and the lack of a national human rights institution.
