In February 2005, the Director of Public Prosecutions in Fiji established an ICC Working Group, to carry out preparatory work on the implementation of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. In June, the ICC Working Group issued a Discussion Paper on Implementation of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court in the Law of Fiji (Discussion Paper). Amnesty International submits this paper to the ICC Working Group providing comments on the Discussion Paper. Amnesty International welcomes the decision to commence the process of drafting implementing legislation in a transparent manner in close consultation with civil society.
