This document highlights the plight of about 100,000 people who have been living in refugee camps in eastern Nepal for the last ten years. The large majority of them are of Nepali ethnicity and claim to have been forced out of southern Bhutan by the authorities there. Many of the refugees were children at the time they left Bhutan and now face becoming stateless. The paper includes a description of the experiences of two of these children, Aita Singh Gurung and Ganga Adhikari, and their families who left the country in mid-1992.
