Bangladesh: Briefing to political parties for a human rights agenda

In this document, Amnesty International calls on the leaders of all political parties in Bangladesh to make human rights the cornerstone of their political programmes in the run up to the 2007 general elections. The document highlights some typical instances of human rights violations and abuses which the authorities have failed to address. It recommends that the new government, which is to come to office after elections, carries out independent and impartial investigations of these incidents and ensures that those responsible are brought to justice in fair trials.
