This document describes the imposition of restrictions on women by the Taleban armed militia in areas under their control, which violate their most basic human rights of freedom of association, expression, employment and education. These restrictions are enforced through cruel, inhuman and degrading punishments and ill-treatment, including corporal punishment and death by stoning. Amnesty International is appealing to the Taleban and all other groups in Afghanistan to respect the human rights of women.
