Indonesia/Timor Leste: International responsibility for justice.

Parallel justice processes for crimes committed in Timor-Leste during 1999 are currently in progress in Timor-Leste and Indonesia. The former has made progress in recent months, whilst the process in Indonesia has been extremely limited in scope. The following briefing provides a short analysis of both processes. It also gives recommendations on next steps that must be taken to overcome the obstacles to delivering the justice to which the people of Timor-Leste are entitled and that has been demanded by the Security Council and the UN Commission on Human Rights.
