Since 1985, when Uruguay returned to democracy, Amnesty International has urged clarifation concerning the fate of those Uruguayans who “disappeared” between 1973 and 1985, as well as the bringing of those responsible to justice. The case of Sara Rita Méndez Lampodio’s son, Simón Riquelo, is one of these cases.
