This document welcome the findings of the United Nations Committee Against Torture that the United States authorities ought to prohibit, prevent and punish all acts of torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment at home and abroad; to close Guantánamo; to end secret, incommunicado and indefinite detention; to prevent "disappearances"; and to stop the practice of "rendition". The Committee's recommendations to the USA in relation to the "war on terror" and aspects of prison and detention policies are listed.
