USA: An “uncomfortable truth”: Two Texas governors – more than 300 executions

As Texas prepares to carry out its 13th execution of the year, the editorial board of major Texan newspaper, the Dallas Morning News, has taken the historic step of calling for an end to the death penalty in the state. Its recognition that Texas may have executed at least one innocent person lies behind its new thinking. Amnesty International urges George W Bush and Governor Perry to reflect upon the reasons why the Dallas Morning News has lost confidence in capital punishment.
