Murnat Kurnaz, a devout Muslim, was born in Germany, son of Turkish gastarbeiter so not a German citizen. Shortly after 11 September 2001, he went to Pakistan where he went to Islamic schools until his arrest in November 2001. He was transferred to American custody and to Guantánamo Bay. On 30 September 2004, a Combatant Status Review Tribunal determined that he was an "enemy combatant". Action is called for so that allegations of torture can be investigated and for the detainees to be given full and trials or released.
