In this document Amnesty International urges the President to make the eradication of torture and ill-treatment by US agents, and the USA's full compliance with international law and standards for the treatment and trial of detainees, a hallmark of his second term in office. The organization takes the opportunity to list some of the detention and interrogation techniques that are alleged to have been authorized or used during the "war on terror". It concludes with recommendations to the US authorities based on the organization's 12-Point Program for the Prevention of Torture by Agents of the State.
