Trinidad and Tobago: Amnesty International submission to the UN Universal Periodic Review, 12th session of the UPR Working Group, October 2011

In this submission, Amnesty International expresses concerns in relation to the normative and institutional framework of the State and the promotion and protection of human rights on the ground. Amnesty International is particularly concerned about the death penalty; discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons; excessive use of force by the security forces and lack of independent investigations; administration of justice; violence against women and girls; and the ratification of human rights instruments.
