A bomb exploded at the offices of GAM on 12 October 1992, injuring GAM leader Juana Contreras and causing material damage. AI is also concerned about other instances of intimidation of members of GAM reported to have occurred in the week before the incident. Shortly after the explosion, four armed men, who did not identify themselves, reportedly went into GAM’s offices and asked questions of GAM members about their activities and the names of their leaders.
